he or she needs to know about various kinds of gift baskets and also
provide useful tips for those who like to “do-it-yourself.”
Is a special occasion going to occur soon and are you clueless about
what to send that special someone? A gift basket is the answer. They
make excellent gifts, especially for those that are “hard to buy
for.” Gift baskets convey a feeling of warmth, coziness and togetherness.
They provide beauty, wonderful snacks, and a large variety of small
gift items for everyone.
Gift baskets come in all shapes and sizes and there is one for every
occasion one can think of. For instance, there are gift baskets for
Valentines, Easter, baby gift, breast cancer, birthdays, get well, kids,
men, women, housewarming, Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Years, sympathy,
and weddings. There are gourmet gift baskets, fruit and kosher gifts,
and don’t forget the wine gift baskets, an ever popular one.
So many different, assorted items are available for gift baskets one
will never run out of ideas for making one. One can choose from coffees,
teas, crackers and biscuits, jams, jellies, pens, mints, towels, a favorite
CD, bottles of wine, and wrapped candies. These are just a few of the
many items one can place in a basket.
The theme of your basket will vary based on the receiver. What do they
like? What are their hobbies? When you are just not sure what to send,
a basket will always fit the bill.
Gift baskets can be assembled very economically if desired although
one can purchase expensive gifts if one’s budget allows it. In
determining which basket to buy, always take into consideration the
sizes and types of gifts that will go in the basket. Plan ahead, buy
items on sale until you are ready to finish your gift.
A basket can be designed and built in as little as 30 minutes. First,
decide what the theme of your basket will be then look for an appropriate
basket. One will need two yards of cellophane to lie on a table with
the basket sitting in the middle of the cellophane. Creatively arrange
all the items in the basket. A napkin is a great item to place in the
bottom of the basket. Breakable items are usually wrapped in cloth to
ensure non-breakage.
How does one place items? Tall items should go in the middle of the
basket with medium height gifts placed on the outer edges. Small items
go between these two sizes. To sparkle up the basket, place individually-wrapped
candies throughout.
When the basket has been filled with your goodies, gather the cellophane
as if you were making a sack, short sides first, followed by the longer
ones. Close with a twist tie. Using a bow adds life to the basket so
choose one that is aligned with the size of your basket. For instance,
a large bow should never go on a small basket. Big baskets get big bows,
small baskets get small bows. One can place a card inside or attach
a gift tag to the exterior.
The next time you are unsure about what gift to get someone, choose
a lovely gift basket. Everyone loves to nibble on what’s inside.
