Are you clueless about what to send that special someone? A gift basket
is the answer. They make excellent gifts, especially for those that
are hard to buy for. Gift baskets convey a feeling of warmth, coziness
and togetherness. They provide beauty, wonderful snacks, and a large
variety of small gift items for everyone.
There is a gift basket for every occasion including Valentine's Day,
Easter, Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Year's and weddings. They are appropriate
gifts for kids, men, women and babies. There are gourmet gift baskets,
fruit gift baskets, and wine gift baskets.
Commercial gift baskets are available on the Internet and in stores.
The advantage to shopping in a retail store is that you can browse among
the gift baskets that are ready made and take one home with you. However,
there is a wider selection on the Internet and prices tend to be a little
lower.
There are so many unique, assorted items available for gift baskets
that you never run out of ideas. You can choose from coffees, teas,
crackers and biscuits, jams, jellies, pens, cookies, mints, towels,
a favorite CD, bottles of wine, and wrapped candies.
Gift baskets can be assembled very economically if desired. If you want
to make one from scratch a basket can be designed and built in as little
as 30 minutes. First, decide what the theme of your basket will be,
then look for an appropriate basket. The theme of your basket will vary
based on the recipients. What do they like? What are their hobbies?
When putting together the gift basket you will need two yards of cellophane
to lie on a table with the basket sitting in the middle of the cellophane.
Creatively arrange all the items in the basket. A napkin is a great
item to place in the bottom of the basket. Breakable items are usually
wrapped in cloth. Plan ahead and buy items on sale until you are ready
to finish your gift.
Tall items should go in the middle of the basket with medium height
gifts placed on the outer edges. Small items go between these two sizes.
To sparkle up the basket, place individually-wrapped candies throughout.
When the basket has been filled with your goodies, gather the cellophane
as if you were making a sack, short sides first, followed by the longer
ones. Close with a twist tie.
Using a bow adds life to the basket. Choose one that fits with the size
of your basket. For instance, a large bow usually does not go well with
a small basket. However, there are no hard and fast rules so use your
best judgment and do what appeals to you. You can also experiment with
different colors for the bow. Finally, place a card inside or attach
a gift tag to the exterior.
The next time you are unsure about what gift to get someone, choose
a lovely gift basket. Everyone loves to nibble on what’s inside.
You dont have to use baskets just for gift giving. Many
people use baskets for books, to organize letters and mail, or to hold
accessories on the bathroom vanity.
